Manic Monday

A friend of mine, Pam Brashear, recently wrote an amazingly honest article for OC Moms about how she is taking a break from reading blogs because what she reads is depressing. The perfect homes, the fancy meals, pictures of family vacations .. you get the idea.

Well, Pam threw out an idea on Facebook and I decided to go with it. So here is the first of hopefully many "Manic Monday" posts.

This is my living room ... on a good day!

I'm not perfect, and I'm sure many of you are not either. Join me and share your real life Manic Monday pictures. Let's show the world that we are real people with real chaos in our lives.

Pam, Thanks for saying what many of us could not and for inspiring me to be as honest as possible with my readers.

  1. Oh boy. As I said after meeting you today, it's really really easy to fall into this crazy competition of one-upping each other, with the cleanest house, best home-cooked meals, star-athlete kids, and even though I don't think Mom blogging meant to start out this way, the competition moms hae with each other has moved over to the blogosphere. Blogs are compared to other blogs, only the best pictures are posted, mom bloggers compete to see who gets the most followers, etc. It's kind of crazy.

I seriously had and have had to step back many times and realize that I blog and write my column for ME, on whatever I so please, whether it be my love of style/beauty to my struggles with my weight to mom guilt. And THOSE are my best posts. The honest ones, the ones where I pour my heart out.

Here's the post I wrote forever ago that I mentioned to you about me vs. Mom guilt, which we can all relate to. http://blogs.inlandempirefamily.com/2011/03/24/what-a-good-mom-would-do/

    talk soon.
