  • Star Wars Fan Days at Discovery Science Center are out of this Galaxy!

If your child loves Star Wars as much as mine does, then you need to visit Discovery Science Center for one of their Star Wars Fan Days before it’s too late. These special fan appreciation days are in a galaxy all of their own.  Although the Star Wars exhibit will be on display until April 15, 2012 there are only two more scheduled Star Wars Fan Days – March 3rd and March 24th

Dylan and I have been to Discovery Science Center 4 times since the Star Wars exhibit opened – yes, that is basically once a month – but the exhibit is just so amazing that we keep going back for more! I have taken over 200 pictures from all our visits and selected about 30 of my favorites to share with you. This is just a  glimpse at what you will experience when visiting Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination and the Star Wars Fan Days.

Let the kiddos wear their favorite Star Wars costume and they can get FREE general admission (ages 3-14) on Fan Days! Heck, you may not get in free, but wear your Star Wars costume too –
it’s a family affair. The Star Wars exhibit is perfect for even the youngest Jedis in your family.

All Fan Day activities are included in general admission. Entrance into the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit is an additional $10 ticket, which can be purchased for a scheduled time.  By allowing only a certain number of people inside the exhibit at one time assures that you can see everything and have an opportunity to experience all of the hands on centers.

Visit www.discoverycube.org for more information on hours, tickets, and future exhibits.

  • Wordless Wednesday – On Top of the World

Another fun-filled day at Discovery Science Center’s Star Wars Fan Day left him feeling like he was king of the world.

  • Gingerbread Inspirations

Most of us think of a gingerbread house as a simple house with four walls that is decorated with candy and frosting. Until recently, this is what I always aspired to create when making my gingerbread house.

But why stop at just ordinary – when you can make extraordinary!

Think outside the box and use sugar cubes to make an igloo, use candy corn to make a hauntingly cute house – Jack Skellington style, or maybe you like fairies – make Tink’s house … the possibilities are endless.

After visiting the Science of Gingerbread Exhibit at Discovery Science Center, I have been inspired to go beyond the ordinary. Who knows, maybe I will make a gingerbread house for Valentines Day and Easter next year. With enough practice and creativity, I may even attempt to make one like the penguins and igloo theme I saw at the exhibit next Christmas.

Forget the kits and start using your imagination. Anyone can build their own gingerbread house with a little help from the gingerbread men and these simple step-by-step instructions.

What will your next gingerbread house look like?

  • Good-bye Summer, Until We Meet Again …

I can’t believe summer is over and my little boy will be starting 3rd grade in just two days. Where did the time go?
It seems like the older I get, the faster the years go by … and the more I wish I could freeze time. My cuddly little boy is growing up so fast.

As I look at school pictures from the past 3 years, my mind is flooded with memories and my heart is filled with love. Through pictures like these, I can freeze time … at least in my mind.

  • Do You Live an Earth-friendly Lifestyle?

Recycling is the most common thing people do to help the environment. Many think that this is all they need to do and nothing else really matters. Well, have you ever thought about how you recycle your aluminum cans and plastic bottles? Most people grab a plastic bag and start filling it up. When the bag is full they head over to the recycling center and collect the money.
Well, that plastic bag is usually just thrown away. Plastic bags do not go away. Plastic bags end up polluting the ocean, harming marine life, and filling up our landfills. Think outside the box when you recycle your cans and bottles. All those reusable shopping bags you have … I know I have at least 15 in my trunk and about 10 in my home. These reusable bags make a great way to collect your recyclables until you make a trip to the recycling center. Especially if you live in an apartment.
