Aquarium of the Pacific Visit and Giveaway!

Earlier this week Dylan and I were invited to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California as part of the aquariums first Mommy Blogger Event. The doors opened an hour early for this event and we were provided a lovely continental breakfast before touring the aquarium.

We had the opportunity to meet the staff, learn about some great programs and events offered, and best of all enjoy the aquarium before it opened to the public. Knowing how much we both love the ocean, I knew this was going to be another wonderful day. One sure to make memories for both of us. If you have a child who loves the ocean half as much as Dylan does, you need to make a visit to the Aquarium of the Pacific.

Any day he can touch an animal is a great day in his book!

Aquarium of the Pacific has something for everyone. Visitors will take a journey through the three main regions of the Pacific Ocean, have multiple opportunities to touch sea inhabitants in touch-tanks, see nearly 500 species, and learn about our planet’s largest ocean.

Each time we visit there is a new experience with the animals and we learn something new about the issues surrounding our great oceans.

Visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific with his best friend made this day even better!

As I have mentioned in other posts, Dylan is fascinated with the state fish of Hawaii. This video shows just how much he loves it, not to mention how well he can say the name! It’s not easy … you try saying it 3 times fast.

Watching the divers feed the animals in the massive tank was very cool. Did you know that rays eat broccoli?

One of the key features of the Aquarium of the Pacific is education through exhibits, programs, and special events held throughout the year. There is a program for everyone in the family. You can even have your birthday party here!

This dolphin was made entirely of plastic water bottles!

Arctic and Antarctica : Our Polar Regions in Peril is the newest exhibit and features a sea jelly touch tank and new Arctic fox pups. This was Dylan’s favorite part of the day. He got to read and learn new facts about the planet and animals he cares so much about.

My little environmentalist reading up on the Arctic. Our Polar Regions in Peril is so informative and perfect for the budding marine biologist, student, or adult like me who just wants to learn more about our ever-changing planet.

Now this was my favorite part of the day. The video isn’t the best because of the bright lights and video screens, not to mention I wanted to touch too, but what you will see is awesome! How often do you get the chance to touch a moon jellyfish?

Thank you for inviting us … we had a blast and will be back soon!

Located in beautiful downtown Long Beach, surrounded by restaurants, shops, and the beautiful harbor … a visit to the Aquarium of the Pacific is a wonderful way to spend the day with your family.

The staff was so nice, that they even gave me two (2) tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific for my readers!
